Engine Inspection and Repair

At Specialized German, every used Volkswagen and Audi engine must pass our strict inspection policy.

We first remove all accessories as these items are sold seperately.

Leak Down Test

A leak down test is then performed. This test is better than a compression test, a leak down test checks the seals between the valves and valves seats. If the engine does not pass this test, we remove the cylinder head for inspection. Any necessary repairs are performed at that time and the cylinder head is reinstalled with a new head gasket. The leakdown test is performed again to ensure that the engine will perform perfectly when installed.

Bearing Inspection

We remove every oil pan and inspect for any problems with the crankshaft and or bearings. All bearings are inspected and replaced if needed. By inspecting this aspect of the engine we can tell if the previous owner maintained his vehicle the proper way. This inspection is the most important because it is like preventative maintenance.

Timing Components

Every Volkswagen and Audi engine Specialized German sells comes with a new timing belts installed. After our engines go through our inspection process, we install new timing belts and most engines have water pumps installed also. On timing chain type engines, we remove timing covers and inspect all tensioners, chains and guides and replace them as needed.
